The Waiting Game, Ode to a Writer

The words are available

Don’t put up a fight.

They’ll appear of the page,

When the timing is right.

You pour in your soul

Wishing all to be great.

The hardest part

Is having to wait.

Don’t dig in your heels

It won’t do no good.

Step back.  Take a breath

When you know that you should.

All things in due time

This one is quite hard

When it’s meant to be

You’ll pull the right card.

Be patient, astute

Sharp and attune.

Allowing your soul

To shoot to the moon.

Don’t beat them,

Hit them, or curse.

Hold your words softly

This rule is the first.

It’s time to relax

This is not a test.

Sometimes the worst crap

Can turn in to-the best.

It may take weeks

Months, or a year.

Laughter and heartache

And plenty of tears.

Keep pluggin on

It’s all you can do.

Show up every day

So your dreams can come true.
