I Was Listening

I was listening as she told me it wouldn’t cost extra to drop my married name.
I was listening when she said there would be money for the kids.
I was listening as she posed the questions that would provide for my needs.
I was listening when she asked me to fill out the necessary forms.
I was listening when my husband said, “Here’s the number to my lawyer.”
I was listening as he talked about the house and splitting up our belongings.
I was listening when he told me that all he really wanted was his chainsaw and the wood stove.
I was listening for any sound that my heart was breaking.

All that I heard, was silence.

Thanks so much Toni! Once again I really appreciate your comments and your time and attention. I also feel this is a very powerful piece. I would like to read it to you sometime as I have practiced it aloud quite a bit and the spoken word has even more impact in this case.

I love this piece. It says so much. My heart aches for you, and at the same time, I feel your awareness, newly found. You are able to be aware because you have faced your demons, and now you move forward into a very new and exciting place. Keep writing Suzanne. This is rich!

Lovely writings! Thanks for your comment over on my blog. I’d love to talk about developing a nomadic lifestyle. This year I’ve lived between Norther CA, Maui, & Southern Oregon. In 2015 I plan to live in Greece for awhile. The how’s don’t matter – what does is intention, alignment, and taking leaps of faith! 🙂
